Meet Lia
I’m a civic educator, organizer and mom of two young kids, based in West Hartford, Connecticut. I was raised with the belief that if you’re a part of a community, you’ve got a responsibility to help shape it and make it better. That’s the idea I brought to my work on Capitol Hill leading communications for Senator Chris Murphy and to projects like Michelle Obama’s voter registration and turnout initiative.
I’ve talked with countless friends and neighbors who want to make change where they live, but they don’t know where to start. Government websites are clunky, politics feels depressing and our daily lives are busy.
I started Civics Club because I believe that each of us has the power to make a difference, while using our time and resources wisely.

Civic Engagement 101 is an interactive presentation that gives people the tools to make a difference where they live. Learn how to curate your media diet, why individual actions matter, and what actually happens when you call your elected officials. You’ll leave equipped with clear, doable steps to make a difference locally.
